Kakheti is the border region of eastern Georgia. Kakheti is divided into Kiziki, inner and outer Kakheti. In the region of Kakheti there are snowy ridges, peaks, plains, and valleys of the Caucasus.
There are resorts in Kakheti which stand out for their climate, among them is the resort Akhtala which is visited by the guests for cure with mud.
Kakheti is famous for its viticulture. In the region you will meet many unique grape varieties of indigenous and foreign origin. There is centuries old tradition of viticulture in Kakheti.
Kakhetians are preparing tatara and churchkhela from juice of grapes and it is not only Kakhetian but also one of the most popular food generally in Georgian cuisine. Throughout the centuries churchkhela has been one of the main food which Georgian soldiers took with them. In Kakhetian cuisine you can often meet meat and dishes such as khashlama, mtsvadi, chikhirtma.
There are many monuments of historical heritage in Kakheti. We will meet both churches and monasteries, as well as ancient prisons. It is noteworthy that Georgia's largest monastery complex - David Gareji which is made caves is located on tens of hectares.
