Tusheti is located on the northern slopes of the main ridge of the Caucasus. There are many small rivers and lakes in Tusheti, most of which are partially freezing in winter. There is a large amount of mineral waters containing chlorides, iron, acidic. The Tusheti territory is characterized by a diverse flora, the majority of which are endemic and ancient relic species.
Tusheti population along with farming is occupied with sheepkeeping. Because of the nomadic life, they have created the original species of horses, sheeps and dogs.
Music is the main integral part of Tushetian holidays.They perform melodies on the Garmoni and it gives them a sad tone.
The secret technology of making sheep cheese is still alive in Tusheti. It is know from shepherders and is transferring from generation to generation. Tushetian sheep cheese is known as the "Guda Cheese". For the ultimate perfection of the tasting properties, cheese is made in a specially-made leather in "Guda". "Guda cheese" is the most famous dish of Tushetian cuisine due to a special taste.
Since 24 October 2007, Tusheti has been included in UNESCO World Heritage List.
